About This Role

UWCSEA East is seeking a Part-Time Teacher of High School Business Management and Economics, starting in August 2026.

The successful candidate will join the team responsible for delivering our tailored UWCSEA Economics courses for Grades 9 and 10, with the potential opportunity to teach IBDP Business Management and Economics in Grades 11 and 12.

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess an internationally recognized teaching qualification and currently reside in Singapore. Availability from August 2026 is also essential.

Main Responsibilities

- Actively contribute to the collaborative environment within the Business and Economics departments, as well as across the broader High School teams.

- Design engaging learning experiences that challenge students, cater to diverse learners' needs in each classroom, and reflect a strong commitment to concept-based education.

- Ensure that assessments promote continuous learning, providing timely, relevant, and constructive feedback to students on both formative and summative assessments.

- Exhibit effective classroom management that acknowledges the academic, social, and emotional aspects of student learning.

- Maintain open lines of communication with parents regarding their children's learning, proactively engaging with them.

It is important to recognize that the College operates in a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere: while the rewards are significant, so are the expectations for teachers in terms of time and engagement.

Expectations and Standards

- Adhere to the UWCSEA Professional Code of Conduct and the Safeguarding Code of Conduct.

- Teach in alignment with the UWCSEA Teacher Standards.

Person Specifications

- A degree coupled with a teaching qualification is essential. Experience or interest in curriculum development is a plus.

- Previous experience teaching Business and Economics courses to students aged 14-16 is required.

- Familiarity with teaching IBDP Business Management and Economics is advantageous.

- Ability to connect with students and inspire enthusiasm for learning.

- Willingness to engage actively in the five key components of a UWCSEA education: Academic; Personal & Social Education; Service; Activities; Outdoor Education.

- A proactive attitude toward Professional Development, both required by the College and self-directed by the teacher.

- Openness to potentially leading a mentor group for High School students in Grades 9-12.

- For full-time staff, an average yearly commitment of two sessions per week in each season for Activities and/or Service is expected, with adjustments made for part-time roles in line with their working hours.

- Eager participation in curricular Outdoor Education experiences relevant to High School students and a willingness to occasionally volunteer for Outdoor Education trips scheduled during holidays.

- A passionate approach to teaching within a multicultural context.

- A flexible and cooperative mindset.

- A dedication to diversity and inclusion, alongside a readiness to adapt and evolve pedagogy to meet the needs of all learners.
