About This Role
Socrates Educa International School, situated in Salou, south of Barcelona, has the capacity to accommodate up to 800 students. This inclusive institution provides a comprehensive education for learners aged 1 to 18+. As the first school to implement the Socrates Educa model, it represents an innovative educational approach that may expand to other new schools in the future.
Our vibrant trilingual environment, offering instruction in English, Spanish, and Catalan, caters to a diverse student body. We provide Pre-school, Primary, Secondary, National and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, alongside the US High School Dual Diploma, all with a strong international focus. Additionally, we offer Chinese as a foreign language. Our curriculum aligns with local educational standards while being enriched by the contributions of teachers from around the globe, with a primary emphasis on English instruction.
In addition to our academic offerings, we boast a variety of extracurricular activities, community initiatives, and educational/cultural events, highlighted by an impressive annual university fair. Our sports, music, and cultural programs play a significant role in the life of our school.
We are currently seeking a Secondary teacher with experience in both national and International Baccalaureate programs for the upcoming academic year, beginning in September 2026.
Ideal candidates will be collaborative team members, innovative and creative, skilled at differentiating instruction to engage all learners, and passionate about making Science captivating. A background in international education is essential, with IB experience considered an asset. The role also encompasses tutoring responsibilities. Familiarity with the Catalan and/or Spanish curriculum is advantageous.
Requirements for all applicants:
- Proficiency in English, with the ability to teach entirely in authentic English.
- A dedicated Physics, Chemistry, or Biology teacher who can motivate students of varied abilities. IB experience and the potential to teach an additional subject are desirable.
- Competence in ICT, including familiarity with Mac/iPad and educational applications.
- Bachelor of Education / PGCE / Secondary QTS (BEd / SCITT / School Direct / Teach First) or equivalent.
Preferable:
- Experience as a Secondary teacher for IB and Bachillerato / ESO, for ages 12-18.
- IB trained and experienced or willing to undergo training.
Highly beneficial:
- Experience with UCAS / D of E.
- Knowledge of the Spanish ESO / Bachillerato curriculum.
- Proficiency in Spanish and Catalan.
