We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Design Teacher, skilled in coding, robotics, makerspace, and artificial intelligence (AI), to join our elementary school's Primary Years Programme team. The perfect candidate will ignite students' curiosity to explore, create, and innovate through engaging hands-on projects and activities that merge technology with design thinking.

This role concentrates on providing captivating Computer Science lessons within the IB PYP framework for elementary/primary school students. The ideal applicant will also play a crucial role in facilitating technology integration throughout the curriculum, assisting both teachers and students in effectively employing digital tools to enrich the learning experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

+++Minimum of 03 years of experience in a PYP-authorized institution

· Bachelor’s degree in education, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (master’s degree preferred).

· Teaching certification and/or relevant experience in elementary or middle school education.

· Proficiency in coding languages such as Scratch, Python, or JavaScript.

· Familiarity with robotics platforms like LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino, or VEX.

· Understanding of AI concepts and their applications in an educational context.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

· Capacity to tailor instruction to accommodate the diverse needs of students.

· A creative mindset, adaptability, and a fervor for innovation in education.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Curriculum Development

· Create engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum materials that weave together coding, robotics, makerspace, and AI concepts into elementary education.

· Design projects and activities that promote creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.

· Ensure curriculum alignment with educational standards and learning objectives.

Instruction

· Deliver instruction in coding languages such as Scratch, Python, or JavaScript to students across different ages and skill levels.

· Lead hands-on learning experiences in robotics, encompassing the design, construction, and programming of robots.

· Facilitate student exploration of AI concepts through interactive lessons and projects.

· Oversee and assist students in utilizing makerspace resources for their creative endeavors.

Classroom Management

· Establish a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel empowered to experiment, take risks, and learn from setbacks.

· Efficiently manage classroom materials, equipment, and technology resources.

· Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and safety within the classroom.

Assessment and Feedback

· Evaluate student progress through diverse assessment methods, including projects, presentations, and quizzes.

· Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and their parents to foster growth and development.

· Collaborate with colleagues to assess and enhance instructional practices.

Professional Development

· Remain informed about the latest trends and best practices in coding, robotics, makerspace, and AI education.

· Engage in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and knowledge.

· Share expertise with peers through workshops, presentations, and collaborative initiatives.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
