Role Overview:
The Psychology Teacher will instruct students from Years 5 to 13 and may also serve as a Form Tutor. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of student achievement. We are looking for an individual who can embody and promote the vision and ethos of King’s College Doha, inspiring both students and parents within the school community. Leadership opportunities may be available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities


Teaching and Learning:


Ignite a passion for Psychology, fostering a strong work ethic and a culture of high expectations that enables both staff and students to realize their potential.


Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.


Collaborate to develop the curriculum and schemes of work.


Ensure Psychology instruction aligns with curriculum development plans and standards related to Common Entrance.


Provide additional support to students as needed and establish challenging learning goals.


Offer consistent feedback and encourage students to reflect on and engage with it.

Pastoral and Wider School Life:


Fulfill pastoral and supervisory responsibilities, including serving as a Form Tutor.


Participate in assemblies, departmental meetings, parents’ evenings, school events, and other staff gatherings.


Act as a role model and foster a collaborative and supportive departmental environment.


Engage in extracurricular activities and contribute to the broader school community.


Provide outstanding pastoral care and uphold the school's reputation within the community.

Curriculum Development:


Enhance teaching methods to stimulate student learning.


Create high-quality, innovative subject-specific activities and resources.


Ensure both vertical and horizontal alignment of the curriculum.


Analyze subject data to ensure exceptional student progress.


Engage in ongoing professional development and consistently reflect on personal practice.

Person Specification:
(Essential=E, Desirable=D)


Thorough knowledge of the UK National Curriculum or similar. (E)


Strong subject expertise in Psychology. (E)


Minimum of two years of relevant teaching experience. (E)


Good degree from a reputable university. (E)


PGCE or QTS (or equivalent). (E)


Emerging leadership capabilities and the ability to earn respect from students, staff, and parents. (E)


Outstanding organizational, administrative, and communication skills. (E)


Ability to inspire students and ensure curriculum accessibility for all. (E)


Dynamic, charismatic, and a collaborative team player with a sense of humor. (E)


Experience teaching students with English as an Additional Language (EAL). (D)


Experience in the independent school sector. (D)
