About This Role

Location: Chongqing

Duties:
A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Mathematics as per the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB.
- Have a solid grasp of Mathematics concepts.
- Effectively address subject-related inquiries from students, understanding common misconceptions and errors in their specialized subject(s).
- Familiarity with all secondary school curriculum and assessment guidelines.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Define clear teaching objectives, content, lesson structures, and sequences that are suitable for the subject matter and the students.
- Establish high and challenging expectations for student learning and motivation, setting explicit targets based on prior achievements and experiences.
- Recognize students with special educational needs as well as those who are gifted and talented, and know where to find support to offer tailored assistance. When applicable, implement and document Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Deliver effective instruction to whole classes, groups, and individuals, ensuring teaching objectives are met, maintaining momentum and challenge, and optimizing teaching time.
- Employ teaching strategies that engage students, including stimulating their intellectual curiosity, effective questioning and responses, clear presentations, and appropriate resource utilization.
- Maintain high standards for student behavior, fostering discipline through focused teaching and positive, productive relationships.
- Encourage positive behavior patterns, promote self-esteem, and enhance independent working among students to support their education and growth within an ICT environment.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Evaluate the achievement of learning objectives and use these assessments to inform future teaching.
- Grade and monitor students’ classwork and homework, providing constructive oral and written feedback while setting targets for their progress.
- When applicable, be aware of the expectations for students regarding the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Know how to prepare and deliver informative reports to parents.
- Acknowledge that learning occurs outside the school environment and create opportunities to connect students' learning with real-world and work-related examples.
- Recognize the importance of collaborating with agencies beyond the school.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Acknowledge the importance of taking responsibility for professional growth and staying informed about research and developments in pedagogy and subject matter.
- Be aware of professional responsibilities concerning school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Exemplify appropriate presentation and personal conduct to the students they teach.
- Critically assess their own teaching practices and utilize this feedback to enhance their effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Foster effective working relationships with professional colleagues, including co-teachers, specialist teachers, and associate staff.

H. Managing Resources:
- Select and utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other learning resources effectively to meet teaching objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree and a teaching certificate or license, demonstrating excellent subject knowledge.
- At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a school environment.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
