About This Role

The Role

We are looking for a skilled classroom educator who can significantly enhance student learning and contribute positively to our school culture. The successful candidate will design educational experiences that respect each student's individuality, stimulate critical thinking, and develop essential skills necessary for thriving in a changing world.

As we approach Year 8, we are in search of a Chemistry specialist to work alongside our current Science teacher in refining and executing the KS3 curriculum, while also preparing for the launch of our first GCSE cohort scheduled for August 2028. At DBSJ, we believe that exceptional teaching is founded on empathy, guided by evidence, and driven by community collaboration. Our educators are collaborative team members, innovators of the curriculum, and advocates for a positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Develop and deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons that adhere to the National Curriculum for England.
  • Utilize assessment data, student feedback, and observations to customize learning experiences and promote progress for every learner.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of teaching strategies, showcasing a commitment to ongoing improvement.
  • Foster a learning environment that encourages independence, values neurodiversity, and supports risk-taking.

Contribution to School Culture

  • Collaborate with various teams and departments to ensure alignment of the curriculum and continuity of learning.
  • Actively participate in extracurricular activities, enrichment programs, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Support colleagues through teamwork and shared professional inquiry.
  • Help create a welcoming and inclusive school atmosphere by demonstrating professionalism and hospitality.

Professional Growth

  • Engage actively in DBSJ’s commitment to professional curiosity and growth.
  • Set personal goals for professional development and reflect openly on areas for improvement.
  • Champion the school’s philosophy that education is complex, evolving, and worthy of exploration.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning for oneself and others.

Our Professional Commitments

At DBSJ, we acknowledge that who you are as an educator is as significant as the subject matter you teach. Our educators adhere to four core beliefs:

  • Every student has the potential to succeed.
  • Our community's value is paramount.
  • High-performing teams operate with integrity, care, and professionalism.
  • Education is a complex and ever-evolving field.

These beliefs underpin our professional accountability, enabling staff to move from mere alignment to engaging in transformative practices that enhance our culture. We are a community that values curiosity, vulnerability, high standards, and the ability to grow alongside our students.

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, BEd, or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in a relevant setting
  • Proven track record of effective teaching practices and student progress
  • Alignment with DBSJ’s ethos and commitment to ongoing professional reflection and growth
  • Willingness to engage in extracurricular activities and whole-school initiatives
  • Understanding of data-informed teaching and inclusive pedagogical practices

Desirable

  • Experience within British or international curriculum schools
  • Familiarity with KHDA or DSIB frameworks, especially regarding compliance with chemical storage and effective management of Science technicians
