About This Role
Avenor College is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Biology Teacher to join our vibrant Science Department, where you will teach in our state-of-the-art laboratories. We welcome applications from qualified Biology educators, including Early Career Teachers interested in completing the ECT programme with us.
Our Senior building features three fully equipped labs, and our Science department is made up of seven dedicated Science teachers and one lab technician. The college supports various opportunities for personal and professional development, prioritizing teacher voice, choice, and agency.
At the A Level, our students follow the CAIE 9700 curriculum. For IGCSE, we offer two distinct pathways: Coordinated Science (Double) CAIE 0654 and Separate Sciences (Triple) CAIE 0610.
Qualifications

- Hold extensive and flexible subject knowledge to effectively teach Science in Middle School, and Biology at IGCSE and A Level;
- Understand student learning processes, motivating and challenging them through engaging educational experiences;
- Utilize the scientific inquiry cycle to enhance investigative skills for all year groups;
- Actively participate in curriculum development by updating schemes of work and collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to ensure a cohesive curriculum experience;
- Provide Science learning opportunities beyond standard curriculum hours, contributing to our broad co-curricular programs;
