Curriculum Overview
Doha British School follows the National Curriculum of England, adapted to align with Qatar’s cultural values and heritage. Our institution provides a seamless educational journey from Early Years through Sixth Form, combining academic excellence with robust pastoral support and a commitment to personal development.
The DBS curriculum at each level is designed to be relevant, enriching, and challenging, merging academic rigor with an emphasis on leadership, creativity, and global citizenship.
Candidates for this position should possess:
•
A recognized educational qualification, such as a Bachelor’s in Education or an equivalent degree.
•
A validated teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or QTS, accompanied by an Early Career Teaching Certificate (the PGCE should be supported by a subject-relevant bachelor’s degree).
•
Thorough subject knowledge, with significant experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.
•
Preferably hold a National Award for SEN Coordination or its equivalent.
•
The capacity to define the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policies and provisions within the school.
•
Responsibility for the daily execution of the SEN policy and coordination of tailored support for individual students with SEN or disabilities.
•
Professional guidance for colleagues, working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
•
Establish high standards for team members and students, setting ambitious goals for achievement.
•
Ensure effective systems and procedures are established for the successful progression of all students within the cohort.
•
Promote engaging and motivating teaching strategies that encourage active participation from students.
•
Enhance learning and teaching through professional development programs and practical support.
•
A strong commitment to contributing to the wider school community through extracurricular initiatives.

This role is scheduled to commence in September 2026; however, staff are expected to arrive in-country by mid-August for orientation and induction.
