About This Role

About the Role

Are you passionate about science and keen to support the next generation of scientists? Penrice Academy is looking for an organised, proactive and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our Science Department and play an important role in delivering an exceptional educational experience for every learner.

As a Science Technician, you will provide essential technical and practical support across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping to ensure that lessons are engaging, well-resourced and delivered safely. Working closely with the Curriculum Lead, Lead Science Technician and teaching staff, you will prepare equipment, apparatus, chemicals and materials for practical lessons, demonstrations, experiments and investigations.

You will help maintain safe, clean and well-organised laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas, ensuring equipment is ready for use and that health and safety procedures are consistently followed. This will include the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and biological materials, maintaining accurate stock records, checking and maintaining scientific equipment, and supporting the review of risk assessments in line with relevant guidance and legislation.

You will also contribute to the development and testing of practical resources and experiments, support science displays and enrichment activities, and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department. Your work will help create opportunities for students to develop their scientific knowledge, practical skills and curiosity about the world around them.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, methodical and well organised, with a positive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will have experience in a technical, laboratory or practical support environment, alongside a sound understanding of scientific principles, laboratory procedures and health and safety requirements. Just as importantly, you will be approachable, adaptable and committed to working collaboratively with staff and students.

At Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), we believe every learner deserves an exceptional educational experience. By joining our team, you will become part of a values-driven organisation that prioritises collaboration, professional development and the wellbeing of its people.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy supporting practical learning and want to make a meaningful contribution to students’ education, we would love to hear from you.
