We are currently in search of a qualified Science Teacher to join our Morven Campus for Grades 8-12. The ideal applicant will be a passionate educator who can actively engage in various aspects of school life, including extracurricular activities. This role is a Temporary Contract from August 28, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging Science lessons that comply with the BC Ministry of Education curriculum and, when applicable, Advanced Placement courses.
- Create and implement inquiry-based learning activities, including laboratory experiments and practical applications of scientific principles.
- Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners in a dynamic and collaborative classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative lessons, units, and assessment strategies.
- Assess student learning and communicate progress through constructive feedback and formal reports.
- Encourage students’ critical thinking, research, and scientific communication skills.
- Offer additional academic support through tutorials or help sessions beyond regular class hours.
- Oversee a co-curricular activity in one of the school’s four strands: Arts, Athletics, Academics, or Service.
- Engage in school events and initiatives that strengthen community involvement and enhance student life.
- Serve as an Advisor teacher or Community FLEX lead as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Science.
- Experience teaching the BC Ministry Science curriculum at the secondary level.
- BC Teaching Certification.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Legal residency and work authorization in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience or interest in teaching Grades 8 and 9 is an asset.
- Proven experience in competency-based learning and assessment strategies.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and enhancing teaching practices.
- A passion for inspiring students to tackle real-world challenges.
- Openness to exploring innovative teaching and assessment methods.
- Experience in a technology-enhanced teaching environment is advantageous.
