Brookes Moscow, a leading international school recognized for its excellence in global education, invites applications for the role of Psychology Teacher. This position is pivotal in shaping the vision, development, and execution of a comprehensive psychology curriculum tailored for Upper School students.
As a psychology teacher, you will play a crucial role in introducing students to core psychological principles, covering a broad spectrum of topics such as human behavior, mental processes, and cognitive growth. The primary aim is to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that not only impart theoretical knowledge but also encourage critical thinking and practical application.
This role involves developing a curriculum that meets educational standards, creating lesson plans, and utilizing a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach Psychology courses, including both introductory and AP-level subjects, which encompass biological, cognitive, developmental, social, and abnormal psychology.
- Motivate students through well-designed and imaginative lessons that allow all learners to engage with the curriculum and make significant advancements.
- Track, evaluate, and document the academic progress and achievements of all students, providing constructive feedback to facilitate further development.
- Create a curriculum that is both accessible and demanding, continually reflecting on lessons and revising Schemes of Learning (SoL), lesson plans, and instructional materials.
- Regularly assess individual student needs using effective Assessment for Learning (AFL) techniques and modify instruction as needed.
- Foster and maintain an inspiring learning atmosphere, including classroom displays and resources.
- Ensure the well-being of students by providing a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
- Promote values and teach essential skills that support students in achieving positive mental health and well-being in your role as both teacher and mentor.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding the progress, achievements, and overall development of students through written reports and parent/teacher evenings, while supporting the school’s ‘open door’ philosophy where appropriate.
- Contribute to our nurturing and collaborative community by demonstrating empathy, integrity, and kindness towards everyone.
- Participate actively in our extensive outdoor learning initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Teaching certification is required.
- Experience teaching high school or AP Psychology is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of research methodologies, scientific writing, and cognitive science.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and ethical teaching is crucial.
- Ability to effectively motivate students and consistently deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with all stakeholders, promoting a collaborative and harmonious environment.
