About This Role

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced French teacher to join our Senior School team, following a retirement. This part-time position starts at 50%, with the potential for full-time employment in the future.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recognized teaching qualification and a solid understanding of French / Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Fluency in French at a native or near-native level, both in spoken and written form.
  • Experience teaching French at the secondary/senior school level, covering Key Stages 3–5.
  • A track record of preparing students for external examinations (IGCSE, GCSE, IB).
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence in leveraging digital tools and technology to enhance the language learning experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Create and deliver engaging, high-quality French lessons that improve students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Utilize a range of innovative and interactive teaching strategies to promote active language acquisition.
  • Monitor student progress through effective assessments and feedback, modifying instruction to meet individual needs.

Departmental Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Modern Languages Department to uphold high teaching and learning standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum design, resource development, and departmental initiatives.

Cultural Engagement

  • Foster a love for the French language through cultural projects, events, and initiatives.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding students’ progress and achievements.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and professional development activities in line with the 50% teaching commitment.

Safeguarding and Professional Standards

  • Comply with the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of professional conduct, aligned with school expectations and international best practices.
