THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a prestigious private co-educational IB World School that accommodates learners from PreK to Grade 12. Established in 2008 and part of GEMS Education, we are authorized to deliver the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programs. THE ROLE
Our Music department has been instrumental in enhancing student outcomes and igniting a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success is driven by our staff's dedication, exceptional subject knowledge, and the department's innovative approach to data and curriculum. The Music department is highly regarded by students for the individualized care and support it offers.
We are seeking applications from dedicated MYP/DP Music educators who feel their expertise, experience, and values align with GEMS World Academy’s mission to nurture a love for learning, with positions available starting August 2026.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful track record in teaching and facilitating student success. Although experience with the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme is preferred, we encourage outstanding educators from diverse curricular backgrounds to apply. A strong alignment with the IB philosophy and commitment to the values of the Learner Profile is crucial. A genuine enthusiasm for working within a culturally diverse and inclusive community is also essential. Additionally, applicants should have:
- A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree with a relevant teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent specialization in Music
- While advanced qualifications are desirable, they are not mandatory
- A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Secondary Music, preferably in an IB curriculum school, although this is not a strict requirement
- A solid understanding of the IB MYP/DP framework and Approaches to Teaching is advantageous
- A strong commitment to continuously improving their practice and providing exceptional teaching and learning experiences for students
- The experience, personality, and educational philosophy that resonate with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy
- Availability to start in August 2026
