About This Role
Curriculum and Instruction
• Develop and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons that are in line with the MYP Individuals & Societies framework and an additional subject, which will be determined according to the schedule, objectives, and assessment standards.
• Share subject-specific expertise that fosters conceptual understanding and links to real-world applications in both areas of study.
• Integrate Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and promote the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes within the student community.
• Adjust instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and abilities of every student.
• Leverage technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences whenever appropriate.
Assessment and Reporting
• Design and execute assessments that comply with MYP subject criteria and moderation standards for both disciplines.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to track student progress and inform instructional methods.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and self-assessment.
• Prepare and submit accurate student reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Learning Environment and Student Support
• Cultivate a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through proactive pastoral care initiatives.
• Encourage student agency, choice, and responsibility in their educational journeys.
• Collaborate with the learning support team to ensure necessary accommodations and modifications are in place.
Collaboration and Professionalism
• Work collaboratively with MYP colleagues across various subject areas to enhance interdisciplinary units and align the curriculum.
• Take part in the development and assessment of MYP curriculum documents and planning resources for both subjects.
• Engage in professional development, attend staff meetings, and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with parents, students, and fellow staff members.
• Demonstrate professionalism, uphold ethical standards, and commit to the school's mission and values.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
• A relevant bachelor's degree in Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field, complemented by a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.
• A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a middle years or international school environment.
• Demonstrated ability or willingness to teach across two subjects in a generalist or mixed-load capacity.
• Experience or training in the IB Middle Years Programme is highly desirable, particularly within the Individuals & Societies subject group.
• A strong grasp of concept-based and inquiry-focused teaching methodologies.
• Proficient in assessment literacy and familiar with criterion-referenced assessment practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
