Job Description

To excel as an English teacher, candidates must be proficient in English as their first language. A successful English teacher will possess a friendly demeanor that enhances the educational experience. Ultimately, an exceptional English teacher should involve students in engaging and enjoyable activities, fostering a supportive learning atmosphere.

I. Responsibilities
• Design, organize, and deliver English instruction that aligns with the Cambridge curriculum and school standards to accommodate the diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs of students.
• Create and implement lesson plans that employ a wide variety of effective teaching techniques and strategies to personalize learning for each student’s success.
• Address all facets of communication through suitable instruction that cultivates each student’s knowledge and skills in relevant grade levels and subjects.
• Conduct academic assessments to evaluate student progress in achieving academic goals and knowledge acquisition; prepare necessary written and oral progress reports for relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor and assess student well-being, both as a subject teacher and homeroom teacher, to support their personal and social growth.
• Establish and uphold standards of student behavior necessary for a well-organized and productive classroom environment.
• Maintain a continuous awareness of the needs of students for whom English is a second language.
• Adjust lesson plans to ensure differentiation for students with additional needs.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers to exchange new ideas, methods, and professional insights.
• Regularly engage with SEN and EAL teams to ensure a comprehensive approach for students at varying developmental stages.
• Track student attendance during lessons and follow up on their performance in class work, homework, and other assignments.
• Keep current records and submit lesson plans for approval to the Head of International Programme, with guidance from the School Director.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with parents, providing updates on student progress and status. Ensure parent communication platforms are updated according to the initial guidelines, and provide additional information as needed.
• Participate in curriculum development, homeroom activities, extracurricular programs, and other growth initiatives.
• Engage in school events such as Open Day, Admissions Day, After School Activities, PD training, or Parent-Teacher Conferences.
• Supervise designated out-of-classroom activities during the school day as required.
• Foster positive relationships and communication with fellow staff members.
• Ensure the effective use of resources, materials, and equipment.

II. Requirements
1. Education
• Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Education/English or a related field.
• Teacher's license is required.
• Cambridge certification is preferred.
2. Experience
• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a similar role within an international or bilingual school environment.
• Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum is preferred.
3. Skills & Knowledge
• Native-level English proficiency.
• Creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm for teaching diverse learners from various cultural backgrounds, languages, abilities, interests, and personalities.
• Proficient in utilizing technology effectively in teaching and learning, including online learning management systems, collaboration tools, and assessment platforms.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
