Native Education College (NEC), established in 1967, is the largest private Indigenous college in British Columbia. NEC is committed to providing a holistic educational experience that empowers Indigenous students to fulfill their responsibilities to their families, communities, and Nations as self-determined Peoples. The college's outreach program improves educational access through community partnerships, recruitment pathways, and localized delivery methods.
Position Summary: The Dean of Educational Outreach is crucial in leading NEC's outreach and access initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President, the Dean is tasked with implementing approved outreach strategies and ensuring that programs are delivered in a culturally authentic and accountable manner.
Main Responsibilities:
• Implement NEC's outreach and access initiatives
• Supervise community-based programming and recruitment activities
• Oversee outreach staff and manage operational budgets
• Facilitate the implementation of partnership agreements approved by the VP
• Collect and report on community feedback and outreach data
• Ensure outreach efforts adhere to Indigenous protocols and Longhouse values
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Indigenous education or community engagement
• Demonstrated leadership experience in outreach or partnership-driven programming
• Strong cultural competence and relationship-building skills
• Experience in managing staff in a unionized environment
• In-depth cultural understanding of local Host Nations
• Proven operational leadership, sound judgment, and conflict-resolution skills
• Successful completion of a criminal record check is required
