The Opportunity:

For the upcoming 2026-27 academic year, we are looking for a French and Spanish Teacher to join our Senior and Middle School on a full-time, permanent basis. The ideal applicant will have the capability to instruct French at both the extended and core levels, as well as provide introductory Spanish lessons. In a setting where social-emotional learning and diversity, equity, and inclusion are emphasized, the successful candidate will showcase empathy, creativity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster a nurturing relationship with both students and colleagues. This role is within the Modern and Classical Languages team and reports to the Instructional Leader of the department. This position addresses an existing vacancy with a planned start in August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Cultivating a classroom environment that encourages learning and personal development through a focus on social-emotional learning.
- Inspiring students to acquire the skills, attitudes, and knowledge essential for a solid educational foundation tailored to their individual capabilities.
- Building strong relationships with parents, faculty, and staff members.
- Ensuring that the written, taught, and assessed curriculum aligns with the IB framework and Ministry of Education standards while allowing for differentiation.
- Creating culturally relevant, inclusive, and responsive French curricula designed for diverse learners.
- Developing comprehensive course outlines, unit plans, and lesson plans that incorporate all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, emphasizing inquiry-based learning.
- Keeping accurate records as required by the Ministry, IBO, and school protocols.
- Regularly communicating with students, colleagues, and parents about student progress, including formal updates through report cards and parent-teacher meetings.
- Staying current and applying best practices in education by engaging in professional reading, attending workshops, and pursuing further professional development.
- Actively participating in faculty, department, and division meetings and collaborating with course teams to plan, assess, and revise the written curriculum.
- Taking on responsibilities for co-curricular activities and supervising students as needed.
- Offering additional support to students outside of classroom hours.
- Participating as an Advisor to mentor students and meet with them regularly.

Candidate Profile:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialization in Spanish and/or French.
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent qualification with Intermediate/Senior qualifications in Spanish and/or French is preferred.
- Experience with and knowledge of the IB curriculum is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in curriculum development and assessment practices relevant to various educational stages.
- A relational educator who integrates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching into their teaching.
- Experience or a strong desire to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into the curriculum.
- A commitment to innovation and collaboration.
- Proficiency with relevant technology and ability to work in a digital and online environment.
- Capable of delivering educational programs electronically and using digital communication to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Alignment with and belief in Branksome Hall’s mission, vision, and values; passionate about teaching and dedicated to serving students and the community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a cooperative team member.

Target Hiring Range: The faculty grid ranges from $70,903.08 - $134,998.82.
