Job Summary
Bialik Hebrew Day School is looking for a passionate senior division Language & Social Studies teacher to become part of our vibrant educational team during a paternity leave. The ideal candidate will be tasked with delivering lessons in accordance with the Ontario curriculum for students in Grades 6–7. This position involves employing teaching and assessment strategies that incorporate UDL and differentiated instruction, along with providing accommodations tailored to individual student needs. This full-time Long-Term Occasional (LTO) role is set to begin in March 2026 and will extend until the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year at our Viewmount Branch, located at 2760 Bathurst Street, Toronto. The salary range for this position is $52,013.18 - $116,511.48, as outlined in the Teachers Collective Agreement, and will be prorated based on the duration of the LTO.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Deliver a comprehensive program that is aligned with the Ontario Curriculum.
- Teach engaging lessons in Language and Social Studies (History and Geography) for Grades 6–8.
- Create developmentally appropriate learning experiences that captivate all students.
- Employ diverse teaching methods to cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Inspire a passion for learning through creative and interactive activities.
Student Assessment and Support
- Develop and implement a range of assessment tools.
- Provide personalized support and constructive feedback to help each student achieve their full potential.
- Collaborate with support staff to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Prepare and write student report cards.
Classroom Management
- Establish a positive and safe classroom environment that encourages respect and collaboration.
- Apply effective classroom management strategies that promote a productive learning atmosphere.
- Manage classroom behavior in line with school policies.
Communication and Collaboration
- Foster open and effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Engage in Parent-Teacher Conferences and attend school meetings.
- Work cooperatively with fellow educators to enhance the overall educational experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education.
- Ontario College of Teachers Certification (OCT).
- Applicants must have legal eligibility to work in Canada and be authorized for positions in childcare and primary/secondary education.
