Primary Responsibility:
The ideal candidate will implement a high-quality Art and Design Technology curriculum within a dual-language (Chinese/English) immersion framework, designed to enhance artistic skills alongside language development. The Bilingual Art and Design Technology Teacher will also engage in teaching specific classes within the Mainstream Programme Art and Design Technology, conducted in English.
Specific Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
- Collaborate with the Head of Department to adapt the current Art and Design Technology curriculum into a cohesive bilingual format that incorporates diverse cultural perspectives and techniques.
- Deliver outstanding instruction in both English and Chinese within the Mainstream and Bilingual Programmes, ensuring students improve their artistic abilities and technical vocabulary in both languages.
- Revise existing English-language lesson plans and resources to create culturally relevant bilingual materials.
- Use art as a vehicle for language immersion, allowing students to achieve fluency through interactive, practical projects.
- Embed Chinese artistic traditions and cultural heritage into the current curriculum to provide a global perspective.
- Assist the Head of Department in the selection and procurement of bilingual resources, tools, and media that support the dual-language approach.
- Adapt artistic techniques and language complexity to cater to the varying proficiency levels in English and Chinese among students.
- Organize and showcase student exhibitions that reflect both mainstream and bilingual learning, as well as artistic growth for the school community.
- Establish a classroom environment that features bilingual signage and multicultural elements.
- Provide regular updates to the Head of Department regarding the effectiveness of the bilingual curriculum and suggest adjustments based on student progress.
- Work alongside homeroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary projects that connect art with history and culture.
- Lead art-based workshops for school-wide cultural events and festivals, promoting a deep appreciation for both Chinese and global arts.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as an ambassador for the school and its values during interactions with students, staff, and the wider community.

- Assume specific responsibilities for the daily administration and organization of the school as directed by the Principal or Senior Leadership Team.
- Report any Health and Safety issues, disciplinary matters, or personal concerns to the Head of Department.
- Alert the relevant safeguarding team regarding any child safeguarding issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art, Education, or a related field, alongside a teaching qualification.
