About This Role
At GEMS Westminster School - RAK, we provide the globally recognized National Curriculum for England, equipping students for IGCSE and A Level examinations. Leadership and Management:
- Uphold and implement the school's vision and ethos.
- Contribute to, execute, and assess the effectiveness of the School Development Plan pertinent to your area.
- Ensure inclusivity in the work of your team and the whole school, addressing any issues in curriculum and pastoral management.
- Guarantee that policies are effectively put into practice by your team, and inform the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of any policies that may require revisions or updates.
- Collaborate with the SLT to lead the school self-evaluation process for your area, including conducting lesson observations, monitoring school standards, and driving improvements.
- As appropriate, assist in drafting self-evaluation and policy documents.
- Successfully manage the transition of students to and from your phase as well as within it.
- Encourage interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning.
- Be an active and effective member of the senior/middle leadership team.
- Serve as a strong role model for your team in teaching, behavior, and classroom management.
Teaching and Learning Responsibility:
- Fulfill the standard duties of a class teacher.
- Lead a core school priority and spearhead school improvement initiatives across the institution.
- Hold overall responsibility and accountability for your area, ensuring curriculum continuity, consistency, balance, alignment, and progression.
- Organize and lead regular meetings with relevant colleagues related to your area.
- Develop, showcase, and/or promote teaching and learning activities suitable for the full spectrum of age and ability.
Monitoring and Assessment:
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team (SLT) to contribute to, monitor, and evaluate the impact of teaching and student progress by analyzing data, ensuring that this information is utilized for planning and target setting.
- Monitor standards through work scrutiny and quality assurance across the school, including reviewing long-term and medium-term planning.
Resource Management:
- Take charge of the organization, planning, and assessment of school programs relevant to your area of responsibility.
- Evaluate, organize, and oversee the use of resources.
Staff Development:
- Act as a reviewer in the appraisal process for all identified staff.
- Take initiative in identifying group and/or individual training needs and provide support for colleagues within your area of responsibility, promoting a school-wide approach.
- Serve as a role model, mentor, or consultant to colleagues as needed, fostering collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork.
- Stay current with developments in your field and share relevant information as appropriate.
