About This Role
This position is a Term Contract for the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year, commencing on September 2, 2026, and ending on January 29, 2027. There is a possibility of annual renewal based on performance. The duties involve teaching English 20-1/-2 (one 80-minute class daily) and English 30-1/-2 (one 80-minute class daily), resulting in a Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) of 0.30 for the fall semester.
PURPOSE: The Academic Teacher is tasked with providing instruction that recognizes each student as capable, intelligent, and creative. The teacher must adhere to the legal obligations and responsibilities set forth in the School Act, comply with Alberta Ballet School policies, and follow all corporate safety regulations and procedures while maintaining the Professional Code of Conduct for educators.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education and a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- A thorough understanding of English language instruction and the relevant curriculum
- Experience teaching English 30-1 is preferred
- Proficiency in technology and its application to enhance learning experiences
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Employment is subject to the successful completion of a Police Background and Vulnerable Sectors Check.
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction that aligns with the Teacher Quality Standards in Alberta
- Understand and implement a comprehensive and challenging curriculum, using the Alberta program of studies as a guide
- Create and maintain an intellectually enriching learning environment
- Evaluate student performance and relay outcomes to students, parents, and guardians
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Academic Principal or the Alberta Ballet School, including supervision on campus and overseeing students during school-sanctioned activities
