THE ACADEMY

GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a private, co-educational IB World School catering to students from PreK through Grade 12. THE ROLE

Our Inclusion department has significantly enhanced student outcomes and cultivated a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success is attributed to the commitment of our staff, their exceptional expertise, and the department's innovative approach to curriculum and data. The Inclusion department is highly esteemed by our students for the personalized care and support provided.

We are currently looking for a creative Secondary Alternative Pathways Teacher to join our dynamic team starting in August 2026.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


Collaborate with the Head of Inclusion on the development of the Alternative Pathway curriculum and scheduling.


Work alongside the Head of Inclusion on future initiatives related to the Alternative Pathway at the school.


Coordinate with subject teachers on curriculum adaptations for mainstream lessons.


Maintain and manage the IASEND assessment tracker for the Alternative Pathway.


Communicate with the Head of Inclusion and subject teachers regarding reporting systems for the Alternative Pathway.


Partner with Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Learning Support case managers to design and manage resources for ASDAN and the Alternative Pathway.


Internally moderate ASDAN student files for certification purposes.


Lead professional development training for 1:1 Learning Support Assistants focused on ASDAN.


Oversee the execution of ASDAN tasks and assignments.


Coordinate closely with the Dubai ASDAN coordinator and the International Development coordinator to ensure effective integration, review, and moderation of the ASDAN programme.


Stay informed about national and international advancements in the ASDAN curriculum.

SKILLS

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven record of effective teaching and a commitment to helping students excel. While experience in the IB Middle Years Programmes and Diploma Programmes is preferred, outstanding educators from any curriculum background are encouraged to apply. Alignment with the IB philosophy and dedication to the Learner Profile values are essential. A genuine enthusiasm for working in a non-selective, culturally diverse environment is also a key requirement. Additionally, candidates should possess:


A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent specialization in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Inclusion.


At least 3 years of diverse and demonstrable experience working with SEN students or in an Inclusion role.


Full-time professional certification as an Alternative Pathways teacher.


Teaching and/or administrative experience (minimum of 5 years preferred).


Strong public relations skills, a positive collaborative attitude, a solid work ethic, and a willingness to contribute to the overall welfare of the school community.


Advanced qualifications are preferred but not mandatory.


A strong desire to continually enhance teaching practices and deliver exceptional learning experiences for students.


Availability starting August 2026.

NEXT STEPS

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
