Position Overview: The Lycée Français de Chicago is seeking a skilled Mandarin Teacher to join our team, focusing on language acquisition for grades 4 through 12. The role involves delivering a challenging educational program while fostering a passion for the language among students. The ideal candidate will inspire and motivate students, enhancing their comprehension and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Designing, preparing, and delivering Mandarin lessons tailored to accommodate a variety of learners in whole class, small group, or individualized settings.
•
Instructing students in both oral and written Mandarin, as well as enhancing their interpersonal communication skills.
•
Cultivating an understanding and appreciation for Chinese culture among students.
•
Engaging and motivating students through dynamic and creative presentations.
•
Assessing and preparing student assignments to promote positive development.
•
Maintaining communication with parents to provide updates on student progress during meetings.
•
Collaborating with colleagues to coordinate work, including curriculum planning, field trips, and various projects.
•
Participating in and organizing school events, outings, and activities.
•
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•
Candidates must be a near-native or native Mandarin speaker, with familiarity in French being a plus.
•
A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s degree preferred in Mandarin, Education, or a related field.
•
A minimum of two years of teaching experience in Mandarin is preferred.
•
The successful candidate will be flexible, organized, capable of multitasking, and able to work independently as part of a team.
•
Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences is essential, with cross-cultural interests or experience in diverse environments preferred.
•
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
•
Proven resourcefulness in problem-solving, strong organizational and time management abilities, along with attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and adaptability.
Additional Information:
•
This exempt, salaried position is expected to begin on August 12, 2026, and requires presence on the Lycée campus.
•
This full-time role includes benefits such as medical insurance, a 403b plan, and tuition remission.
•
