About This Role

Join Our Learning Community at ISL!

Do you believe that each learner possesses distinct potential and that education should foster curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness? Are you dedicated to crafting impactful learning experiences that enable students to understand the world and their role within it? If this resonates with you, we would be excited to connect.

As an educator at our institution, you will significantly influence not just what our students learn, but also the manner in which they learn. You will create engaging, concept-driven lessons that spark curiosity, promote reflection, and challenge students to relate their learning to both local and global contexts. Teaching in our Upper School entails participation in the student wellbeing/advisory program.

Why Choose ISL?

At ISL, you will become part of a diverse, nurturing, and forward-looking community where:

• Learning is inspired by curiosity, compassion, and connection

• Educators are encouraged to develop, reflect, and innovate

• Students are empowered to express their voices and shape their own futures

About the Position

At ISL, we view learning as a deeply human experience. We are committed to creating environments where students feel acknowledged, inspired, and empowered to take charge of their education. We are currently looking for a dedicated and reflective French Language A Teacher for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to join our dynamic learning community in Luxembourg.

In the role of French Language A Teacher, you will assist students in gaining a profound understanding of language, literature, and identity within the IB MYP and DP frameworks. You will curate meaningful, inquiry-based experiences that prepare older students for the challenges and independence required in the Diploma Programme.

Our educational philosophy is anchored in curiosity, inquiry, and practical experimentation. We seek a teacher who views education as relational, creative, and purposeful.

Responsibilities

As our French Language A Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

● Designing and facilitating engaging, inquiry-driven learning experiences in French Language A across MYP and DP

● Collaborating with peers to create interdisciplinary, concept-based, and innovative learning opportunities

● Instructing and supporting students in developing advanced literacy, critical thinking, and literary analysis skills

● Preparing students for IB assessments, including both internal and external evaluations for MYP and DP (oral and written)

● Establishing inclusive, differentiated learning environments that cater to diverse learners

● Encouraging learner agency, voice, and ownership of their educational journey

● Utilizing assessment and feedback strategically to steer learner progress and development

● Cultivating strong, respectful relationships with students that enhance their wellbeing and sense of belonging

● Actively contributing to a reflective and collaborative professional culture

● Employing a Learning Management System to organize course materials, facilitate collaboration, and engage students.

● Participating in the wellbeing and pastoral life of the school, including serving as a student advisor.

● Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where each learner feels valued and supported.

● Engaging actively in the vibrant life of the school—from parent evenings to community events and leading extracurricular activities.

● Pursuing personal professional development and introducing innovative ideas into the classroom.

● Effectively integrating AI into instruction by adopting a human-centered approach, promoting ethical practices, and equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to utilize AI in their education responsibly.

We are eager to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds, especially those whose nationality, identity, gender, or race is currently underrepresented in international education.

We are committed to safeguarding and prioritizing the wellbeing of children and young people, and we expect all staff to share this dedication.

Profile: (qualifications, experience, skills, and attributes necessary for the role)
