About This Role

Overview

The role involves coordinating the implementation, evaluation, and quality assurance of BTEC programs throughout the institution, ensuring adherence to both internal and external standards, monitoring student progress, and complying with the regulations set forth by the awarding body.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Coordination

• Supervise the planning and execution of BTEC qualifications across relevant departments.

• Ensure compliance of BTEC programs with Pearson (or the respective awarding body) policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with subject leaders and educators to facilitate the effective delivery of BTEC units.

2. Quality Assurance

• Lead the Internal Verification (IV) process to ensure assessment decisions are valid, reliable, and consistent.

• Guarantee timely and precise completion of assessment and internal verification documentation.

• Communicate with the External Verifier (EV) and manage the sample verification process.

• Stay informed about BTEC standards and relay updates to staff.

3. Administration

• Keep accurate records of student achievements and progression.

• Process registrations and certification claims through Edexcel Online or other relevant platforms.

• Track student progress accurately and generate reports for senior management.

4. Staff Support and Training

• Provide support and training for staff involved in delivering BTEC qualifications, including new or less experienced teachers.

• Coordinate regular standardization meetings to ensure consistency in assessment and internal verification.

5. Student Support

• Assist students in comprehending the expectations and requirements of BTEC qualifications.

• Monitor student performance and implement interventions as needed.

6. Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure the center is prepared for inspections and remains compliant during audits and reviews.

• Promptly address any recommendations from external verifiers or awarding bodies.

• Deliver high-quality teaching tailored to diverse levels and abilities.

• Uphold teaching standards while aligning with the school's mission, vision, and values.

• Take responsibility for the learning, progress, achievement, and development of all students, adapting your teaching to their needs.

• Ensure equitable access to an outstanding education in Business studies for all students.

• Engage in various school activities associated with the Business department, including the Business simulation competition.

• Participate in school duties, evening self-study, co-curricular activities, and individual tutorials as necessary.

• Adhere to the established policies set forth by the school and exam boards.

• Follow school guidelines regarding reports, marking, and assessment.

• Be an integrated team member, offering support and collaboration when needed, attending departmental meetings, and sharing best practices.

• Demonstrate a strong interest in ongoing professional development, committing to continually improve teaching skills and subject knowledge.

Operational Planning

• Assist the Curriculum Area and Department in creating relevant syllabuses, resources, work plans, marking criteria, and teaching methods.

• Aid in developing and executing the department's and curriculum area's development plan.

• Organize and prepare classes and instructional sessions, contributing to the overall planning efforts of the school.

Skills/Qualifications

• Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree or higher, especially from overseas institutions.

• Candidates must hold professional teaching certifications, such as a PGCE or a subject-specific teaching license.

• A minimum of two years of teaching experience in international schools, specifically in the relevant subject area, is essential. This teaching experience should align with the aforementioned curriculums.

• Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it will be the primary language of instruction and communication. A strong understanding of the importance of fostering technical literacy among Chinese students learning the subject in English is required.

• Strong academic English writing skills are crucial, as examinations predominantly involve writing based on case studies rather than multiple-choice questions. The ability to teach advanced English writing skills effectively is essential.
