Role purpose:
The position entails delivering classroom instruction and educational principles in alignment with the Cambridge Education curriculum, ensuring student learning advances through effective lesson preparation, presentation, classroom activity management, and related assessments.

Key Accountabilities:
● Collaborate with colleagues to create high-quality lessons and learning plans.
● Design engaging, interactive lessons that focus on student involvement.
● Provide instructional guidance based on the relevant curriculum and subject-specific materials.
● Support students according to their individual needs, adapting for varying abilities.
● Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with students in your classes and throughout the school to promote high levels of learning.
● Share teaching methodologies with peers and participate in a professional learning community, aiming to enhance the overall quality of education.
● Maintain elevated expectations, operating under the belief that every student can surpass their current capabilities.
● Prepare the classroom by organizing and setting up necessary equipment for learning.
● Monitor inventory and procure learning materials as needed.
● Assign and evaluate student projects, assignments, and examinations.
● Document and report on student progress.
● Foster and encourage student participation in maintaining classroom cleanliness.
● Conduct responsibilities in accordance with the Cambridge Teaching Standards.
● Attend faculty meetings and other school gatherings as required.
● Provide support to students during school hours and extracurricular activities.
● Assist students through additional educational support programs outside of regular hours as necessary.
● Contribute to the HAIS monthly magazine, HAISLife.
● Engage actively in personal and professional development.
● Take on responsibilities assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or Learning Leads.
● Embody the values of Hoi An International School.

Pastoral / Student Well-being:
● Communicate with parents regarding academic and pastoral issues, including follow-ups on student reports and participation in parent-teacher meetings.
● Support the school’s pastoral and support systems aimed at enhancing student well-being.
● Develop and implement sector-specific and school-wide pastoral initiatives.
● Serve as a contact point for students, providing pastoral care within your sphere.
● Create and implement teaching strategies that effectively address students' personal, social, and academic needs.
● Ensure an inclusive atmosphere for all students within the classroom and the larger school environment.
● Foster positive relationships and attitudes among all students and staff.
● Be mindful of your pastoral care practices and their impact on students, the school, peers, and the broader community.

Essential criteria:
● A minimum of a university degree accompanied by a recognized teaching qualification.
● At least three (3) years of recent classroom teaching experience.
● Proven experience teaching at the Secondary IGCSE level.
● Experience with the Cambridge Education framework.
● Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
● Ability to build a high level of trust among students, parents, and colleagues.
● A proactive approach to participating in the school’s extracurricular activities.

Desirable

● Experience in an international school setting.
● Recent leadership experience in academic and pastoral contexts.
● Familiarity with EAL teaching.

Employment requirements:
If the successful candidate is an international hire, they must provide legalized and authenticated copies of identification, qualifications, experience, and probity documents as mandated by HAIS and relevant local/national government authorities.
The candidate will also need to meet probity requirements, including appropriate reference checks, a national and local police clearance, and any applicable Work with Children Checks.

Compensation

$2,300 - $2,700 per month
