Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not possess every qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-oriented education are highly valued.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Experience teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
- Background in teaching within cross-cultural or northern Canadian contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Knowledge or experience in current assessment methods to inform learning
- Proven experience in cultivating a positive learning atmosphere with effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Skills in establishing respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Experience promoting student well-being and engagement
- Ability to engage with students outside the classroom as appropriate

- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pond Inlet, Nunavut: $24,214
- Housing: Subsidized housing is available, though sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
- Current Government of Nunavut employees must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut should provide a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
