Taipei European School is looking to fill the role of Class Teacher (EYFS/KS1) with Head of Year Responsibility in the British Primary Section, starting in August 2026. Head of Year Responsibilities
Year Group Leadership:
• Oversee and manage a specified year group, creating a nurturing and positive learning environment.
• Work in collaboration with fellow teachers to provide a comprehensive and engaging curriculum tailored to meet students' academic needs.
• Plan or delegate the planning of educational trips and outings for the year group, maintaining oversight.
• Provide daily line management for year group team members and oversee their annual performance review process (goal setting, monitoring, and review), which includes conducting lesson observations.
• Support and onboard new team members when necessary.
• Effectively manage the year group budget and resources.
• Arrange cover for absent staff to ensure continuity of learning when required (e.g., phonics, interventions).
Pastoral Care:
• Supervise student behavior within the cohort and collaborate with your team to develop strategies that promote the school’s community values and learner profile.
• Maintain awareness of student behavior in the group and be available to assist team members with any student-related concerns.
• Implement and oversee pastoral care initiatives while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
• Ensure that the school’s behavior policy and reporting protocols are understood and followed (within your year group), including the use of CPOMS for any safeguarding issues.
• Monitor the transition of new students within the year group and offer support as needed.
Planning and Curriculum Development:
• Collaborate closely with Curriculum leads and SLT to create and execute effective teaching and learning strategies.
• Oversee and document collaborative planning (long, medium, and short term), ensuring alignment with curriculum standards, HQLT, Global Citizenship expectations, school values, and learner profile.
• Ensure the effective and consistent use of technology throughout the year group to enhance student learning and equip them with essential digital literacy skills.
Data Analysis:
• Collect, analyze, and interpret student performance data for the year group to guide instructional decisions and identify areas needing improvement.
• Work together with teachers to develop and apply strategies aimed at addressing academic challenges and boosting student achievement.
Parental Engagement:
• Foster open and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and any issues that may arise.
• Effectively communicate with year group parents to keep them informed about events, activities, and parent engagement days.
• Organize presentations for parents to provide information and participate in parent-teacher conferences and other pertinent events.
Professional Development:
• Promote the sharing of best practices and effective teaching and learning strategies within the year group.
