About This Role

Key Responsibilities:


Design and implement engaging and age-appropriate ICT, Computing, and STEM lessons in English for students in Years 1–6, in line with the adapted IPC curriculum of the school;


Instruct students in fundamental programming concepts and computational thinking utilizing visual programming languages such as ScratchJr, Scratch, Blockly, Tynker, and CoSpaces Edu;


Enhance students' digital literacy skills, covering typing, online research, multimedia production (e.g., Canva, iMovie, GarageBand), and internet safety;


Collaborate with class teachers and year-level teams to incorporate technology and STEM into interdisciplinary and theme-based learning units;


Oversee and maintain the ICT suites, iPad/laptop carts, robotics kits (e.g., Bee-Bot, LEGO WeDo, Micro:bit), along with other STEM resources and software;


Create and execute formative and summative assessments, track student progress, and communicate results effectively with parents;


Facilitate at least one after-school club or co-curricular activity (CCA) each term focused on technology, coding, or robotics;


Support the organization of school-wide technology initiatives such as Tech Week, coding competitions, and parent workshops;


Engage in school activities, parent-teacher conferences, professional development opportunities, and department meetings as an integral part of the school community.

Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Primary Education, or a related discipline (Master’s degree is preferred);


Certification: A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, State License, or equivalent internationally), preferably with a focus on primary education;


Experience: A minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching in primary ICT, Computing, or Digital Literacy; experience with IPC, Cambridge Primary, or IB PYP is highly advantageous;


Skills: Proficient in visual programming tools (ScratchJr, Scratch, Blockly), robotics kits (Bee-Bot, LEGO WeDo, Micro:bit), and creative media applications (iMovie, GarageBand, Canva); experience in integrating technology into cross-curricular or transdisciplinary units is a significant asset;


A solid foundational understanding of computational thinking, digital citizenship, and effective pedagogy suitable for primary technology education;


Creative, patient, and capable of motivating young learners through play-based, inquiry-driven, and project-based methodologies;


Adept at managing ICT resources, including device carts, robotics kits, and software licenses, demonstrating strong organizational skills and responsibility;


A genuine enthusiasm for teaching young children and a dedication to ongoing professional development.

Compensation

£2,500 - £4,000 per month
