JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of Role

To inspire students in the subject you teach and enhance their enjoyment and success in learning.

Responsible To

The Head of Secondary for all aspects related to this role.

Responsible For

Students assigned to your English first language classes.

Responsibilities

To actively support and promote the BCIS Mission, Vision, and Values.

To align teaching methodologies with the BCIS Learning Principles within the English learning environment.

To collaborate with EAL mainstream program teachers regarding student graduation and transition into mainstream English.

To adhere to all school policies pertaining to staff and students.

Key Tasks

Learning and Teaching

- Collaborate with the Head of Department and fellow educators to plan, prepare, teach, and evaluate schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum of England and Wales (in an international context) and exam board requirements for internal assessments and external examinations.

- Ensure that all planning and preparation addresses the diverse needs of all students.

- Utilize a range of teaching and learning strategies consistent with the BCIS Learning Principles to align with curricular objectives and meet all students’ needs through differentiation and group focus.

- Create a learning atmosphere that exemplifies the BCIS Learning Principles in practice.

- Provide regular feedback and ensure that work is marked and assessed according to School and Subject Policies, including assessment for learning (AfL) practices.

- Analyze assessment outcomes and use this data to guide planning for individual learners and the class as a whole.

- Assign homework consistently in accordance with the school’s Homework Policy to reinforce and extend students’ learning, encouraging them to take responsibility for their own education.

- Manage the assessment, recording, and reporting for students, adhering to school and subject policies.

- Plan and organize trips and events related to the subject matter to enrich students’ learning experiences.

- Ensure that suitable cover work is prepared during absences.

- Provide coverage for absent colleagues as is reasonable, fair, and equitable.

Communication

- Regularly meet with members of the Secondary English department to engage in discussions, provide feedback, and participate in planning sessions.

- Communicate and collaborate effectively with EAL mainstream teachers to facilitate smooth transitions between the immersion program and mainstream English classes.

- Work cooperatively with learning support/SEN teachers.

- Liaise with Primary School teachers as necessary regarding student transfers.

- Foster and promote positive relationships between home and school.

- Report to parents during consultation meetings and through end-of-year reports.

- Be available to parents at mutually agreed times as required.

Professional Development

- Engage in the school, department, and individual review process (School Self-Evaluation).

- Actively seek out opportunities for CPD/professional learning to stay informed about current best practices in the UK and worldwide.

- Attend meetings, workshops, and courses provided by the school that support the School Improvement Plan.

- Participate in whole school vertical meetings with primary staff.

- Provide relevant CPD/professional learning for colleagues as needed.

General

- Get involved in organizing and running extracurricular activities and assist in the planning of school events, productions, and sports events as necessary.

- Take responsibility for Health and Safety matters in your teaching area and report any hazards, ensuring that adequate safety precautions are undertaken with students.

- Adhere to the Child Protection and Safeguarding policy at all times.

- Address all behavior issues in accordance with the BCIS Behaviour Policy.

- Supervise designated areas of the school as per the Supervision Duty Rota.

- Serve as a positive role model for students and uphold the Staff Code of Conduct.

- Complete other related tasks as assigned by the Academic Leadership Team (ALT).

Compensation

฿75,000 - ฿105,000 per month
