About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive University and Careers Advisor with relevant experience to join our secondary school team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students as they explore their post-secondary education and career options. This position focuses on guiding students through university research, global application processes, and career exploration to ensure they are well-prepared for their future paths after school. Our students are ambitious, with six graduating classes and 300 alumni representing 14 different countries.

Working closely with the University and Careers Director and the U&C Team, the advisor will support students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 in developing informed exit strategies and making confident decisions about their futures. A crucial aspect of this role involves implementing a thorough careers program that offers students considerable exposure to universities, industries, and various professional opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide both individual and group counseling to students regarding university options, career paths, deadlines, and global application procedures.
  • Regularly meet with students, maintaining precise and detailed records of guidance discussions and student progress.
  • Assist students with the university application process, including research, comprehension of entry requirements, and preparation of application materials.
  • Support families in navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
  • Facilitate a structured careers program for Key Stages 3-5.
  • Organize and coordinate careers-related events such as Work Experience, Careers Week, Careers Day, university fairs, and guest speaker sessions.
  • Build partnerships with universities, employers, alumni, and industry professionals to enhance student opportunities through visits and fairs.
  • Utilize the Unifrog platform to support student guidance, monitor engagement, and manage career and university data.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and parents to foster student development and informed decision-making.
  • Serve as a member of the SAT testing team.
  • Develop strong relationships with alumni.
  • Contribute to the marketing and communication initiatives of the department.
  • Stay updated on the latest admissions requirements, application procedures, scholarships, and trends in local and international higher education systems.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in university counseling, career advising, or student guidance within an international school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with Unifrog and university application systems and platforms such as ManageBac, UCAS, CAO, Studielink, and the Common App.
  • Experience working with private university representatives.
  • Knowledge of global university admissions processes, requirements, deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and visa applications.
  • Experience in team leadership and management.
