Job Detail

South View School is seeking a dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our growing department. The ideal candidate will possess extensive subject knowledge, preferably up to A Level and Further Maths, while recognizing that advanced achievement is built upon a solid and engaging foundation in Key Stage 3.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Excellence in Teaching & Learning
    • Deliver outstanding Mathematics instruction that inspires a deep conceptual understanding and a passion for the subject in students.
    • Break down complex mathematical concepts into engaging, accessible learning steps suitable for the KS3 cognitive level.
    • Foster a classroom environment that challenges all learners, catering to the needs of students requiring additional support as well as those who are high achievers.
  2. Strategic Use of Data & Assessment
    • Leverage both formative and summative assessment data to monitor the progress of each cohort, ensuring all students are on track to achieve or exceed their potential.
    • Implement timely interventions based on data analysis to ensure no student falls behind during these crucial foundational years.
  3. High-Level Subject Expertise
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum up to A Level, enabling effective "backward-planning" of the KS3 curriculum with academic rigor.
    • Provide "stretch and challenge" opportunities for high-achieving KS3 students by introducing them to advanced reasoning and higher-order thinking skills at an early stage.
  4. Inclusion & Pastoral Support
    • Demonstrate expert knowledge in supporting students with additional needs (SEND), ensuring the curriculum is inclusive and accessible to all.
    • Utilize strong pastoral skills to support the social, emotional, and academic development of students throughout the school.
  5. Enrichment & Professional Development
    • Lead and participate in enrichment activities (such as Maths Challenges or STEM clubs) to promote the visibility and appreciation of Mathematics throughout the school.
