Teaching Specifications
Essential
- A robust honours degree in Psychology or a closely related area.
- A PGCE or recognized qualified teacher status for secondary education.
- A minimum of two years of effective teaching experience at the secondary level, ideally in a UK or British international school environment.
- A demonstrated history of strong examination results at A Level and/or IB Diploma level.
- Familiarity with the English National Curriculum.
- Experience in managing or contributing to IB Internal Assessments, including moderation, academic integrity processes, and predicted grades.
- Excellent communication abilities and fluency in English.
- A clear dedication to safeguarding and prioritizing the well-being of children.
Desirable
- Experience teaching Psychology within the IB Diploma Programme, with an understanding of course structure, Internal Assessment, and examination criteria.
- Involvement in IB professional development workshops (Category 2 or 3).
- Previous experience in an international school or multilingual environment.
- Experience in supporting high-achieving students and guiding them towards prestigious university pathways.
- Right to work in the EU (preferred but not mandatory).
Key Responsibilities
Academic and Curriculum Leadership
- Lead the planning, teaching, and continuous improvement of Psychology at A Level and within the IB Diploma Programme, ensuring alignment with the relevant awarding body and IB standards.
- Be instrumental in establishing Psychology as a subject at Queen's College, creating course materials, resources, and assessment frameworks from scratch.
- Guarantee the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, demonstrating exemplary practice that highlights both academic excellence and genuine care for each student.
Assessment and Examinations
- Oversee all aspects of IB Internal Assessments in Psychology, including timelines, standardization, moderation, and academic integrity.
- Direct examination preparations, manage predicted grades, set targets, and monitor student progress using data-informed strategies.
- Develop and refine formative and summative assessments that encourage deep understanding and strong examination performance.
