About This Role

Join our vibrant team at Brighton College Dubai! We are expanding and are looking for outstanding teachers to join us immediately.

Person Specification:

  • Essential traits include the ability to function both independently and as part of a team, presenting a warm, engaging, and approachable demeanor to parents, students, and colleagues. Dependability and respectfulness are key.
  • A Level or equivalent qualification is necessary.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science or a related field is preferred.
  • A coaching qualification in one or more of the sports offered at the school is desirable.
  • Recent engagement in continuing professional development is expected.
  • Experience in coaching and/or officiating in football and cricket is required.
  • A Level 2 Swimming Teaching certificate is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the independent or private school sector is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to work positively and effectively with parents, outside agencies, and colleagues is necessary.
  • Familiarity with ICT to enhance teaching and learning, particularly with Microsoft 365, is beneficial.
  • A strong history of professional development with a proactive attitude toward participating in CPD and the College’s performance development reviews and appraisal processes is required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Sport and other members of the PE team to ensure the development of students, including maintaining professional standards of punctuality, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Adopt a forward-thinking approach to ongoing department development.
  • Work with the Middle Leadership Team to support the school’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Assist in delivering high-quality PE lessons.
  • Coach a team in a specific sport each academic term.
  • Support our Co-Curricular programme at Brighton College Dubai, which includes morning CCAs starting at 6:30 am and after-school activities from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, with an expectation to run at least four sessions per week.
  • Participate in the school-wide professional development programme.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional growth.
  • Share in supervisory and general duties as needed.
  • Provide coverage for absent colleagues.
  • Be available during the school day and, if necessary, outside of school hours to support operations.
  • Attend school events and engage in the broader school community.
  • Act as an ambassador for the College at all times, both within the school and throughout the United Arab Emirates.

Pastoral:

  • Show a genuine interest in each child's personal and domestic circumstances, fostering their personal and social development.
  • Actively promote the social, moral, and cultural ethos of the College community.
  • Create a supportive environment by being aware of and fully compliant with all College policies, including the Code of Conduct, School Rules, and Anti-Bullying Policy.
  • Be familiar with the College’s Health and Safety policies and proactively ensure the safety of all members of the College community at all times.
  • Encourage exemplary behavior and a responsible attitude among all students.
  • Be aware of and act in accordance with all policies related to child safeguarding.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Foster pride in the College among students through high standards of dress, behavior, and commitment.
  • Ensure that all communications are addressed appropriately and promptly.
  • Attend Parents’ Evenings, Assemblies, Productions, Sporting Events, and other special occasions.
  • Be accountable for all College resources, particularly those in your care, reporting any damage or loss to your line manager or facilities manager as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the College website, social media, and publications as needed.
  • Build a close partnership with parents, initiating contact when appropriate and maintaining a record of these interactions.
  • Be present at school events and engage in the broader school community.
