About This Role

New Line Learning Academy is seeking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational Second-in-Charge of Humanities to support the leadership and continued development of our Humanities faculty.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing department with strong leadership at both Faculty Leaders and Assistant Headteacher level, providing clear direction, support and ambition. It is an ideal role for a talented teacher ready to take the next step into leadership within a school committed to delivering an ambitious curriculum and securing strong outcomes for all students.

Humanities at New Line Learning Academy is a collaborative, forward-thinking and evolving department, with a clear focus on high-quality teaching, strong curriculum design and improving outcomes. The faculty includes History, Geography, Ancient History, Sociology, Citizenship, Religious Education and World Views, offering a rich and diverse curriculum that develops students’ understanding of the world alongside their academic achievement.

At Key Stage 4, students follow an ambitious curriculum for all, supported by personalised pathways, ensuring that every student is both supported and challenged to achieve highly. Across all key stages, there is a strong emphasis on knowledge, literacy and the development of analytical thinking, ensuring students are well prepared for further study and future pathways.

As Second-in-Charge, you will support the strategic and operational leadership of the faculty, working closely with the faculty leader for Humanities to drive standards, improve teaching and learning, and ensure strong outcomes across all subjects. You will play a key role in developing curriculum, supporting colleagues and embedding consistent, high expectations in every classroom.

We place a strong emphasis on developing leaders for the future, and this role offers clear progression opportunities into positions such as Faculty Leader, Lead Practitioner or Senior Leadership. You will benefit from high-quality coaching, professional development and opportunities to contribute to whole-school improvement priorities focused on raising achievement.

·       Is passionate about delivering an ambitious curriculum and securing high outcomes

·       Can inspire and motivate students and colleagues

·       Is committed to high expectations, consistency and continuous improvement
