Anton Bruckner International School is seeking a talented, flexible, and committed PYP Learning Support Teacher to begin in September 2026. The ideal candidate will hold a recognized teaching qualification in learning support or a relevant discipline. The main responsibility of the Learning Support Teacher is to assist students with specific learning challenges by creating Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), implementing targeted interventions, and providing support within the classroom. This role requires close collaboration with educators and school leadership to promote inclusive practices and advance the application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) within the IB PYP framework.

Skills and Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)


Recognized teaching qualification from your home country


At least two years of relevant experience


Experience in supporting children with diverse learning needs across various settings


Commitment to ongoing professional development in IB and related areas


Willingness to cultivate a developing school environment, supporting both staff and students


Essential experience in an international school; IB experience is advantageous


Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion


Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is preferred


Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English; knowledge of German is an asset


Ability to provide a criminal background check


Exhibit a positive, collaborative, and approachable interpersonal style

Key Responsibilities

Learning Support and Student Intervention

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Provide targeted assistance through in-class support, small group activities, and short-term individual interventions


Lead sessions outside the classroom (1:1 and small group) as needed


Collaborate with professionals to assess and identify student needs


Plan and prepare resources for intervention sessions


Support students in developing skills related to attention, behavior, motivation, and self-management in line with ILPs


Offer in-class support to ensure curriculum accessibility


Identify students who may need additional instruction and provide support for designated time periods


Work with teachers to design differentiated, modified, and scaffolded learning experiences and assessments


Observe students and provide feedback on their progress and learning requirements


Utilize formative assessments to guide interventions and monitor student progress


Contribute to the creation, implementation, and review of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)


Maintain clear and relevant documentation related to student support and progress


Review and adjust support based on student advancements, ensuring timely and targeted interventions

Inclusive Practice

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Assist in implementing inclusive teaching practices, such as UDL principles, to improve access and engagement for all learners


Collaborate with teachers to remove barriers to learning using flexible and responsive methodologies


Help cultivate learning environments that celebrate diversity among learners

Collaboration and Advisory Role

The Learning Support Teacher is expected to:


Work closely with classroom teachers to enhance student learning


Offer guidance and support to teachers and teaching assistants in applying effective strategies for diverse learners


Communicate with parents and external professionals as necessary


Actively participate in collaborative teams


Share pertinent information with staff to support student progress


Assist in enhancing staff competencies in inclusive practices through modeling, coaching, and dialogue

Teaching and Learning

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Support curriculum delivery through inquiry-based and concept-driven teaching methods


Incorporate IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into support sessions


Encourage the development of IB Learner Profile attributes, particularly concerning student agency and self-management


Collaborate on planning to ensure accessibility for all learners


Provide feedback to support student progress

Safeguarding and Student Wellbeing

The Learning Support Teacher will:


Uphold and contribute to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies


Identify and report concerns related to student wellbeing


Collaborate with the School Counselor and leadership to provide support for at-risk students


Maintain confidentiality in line with safeguarding protocols.

Professional Responsibilities

The Learning Support Teacher is expected to:


Reflect on the effectiveness of their practice


Engage in collaborative planning and professional discussions


Keep clear and up-to-date records


Communicate effectively with all stakeholders


Foster professional relationships with students, parents, and staff


Pursue ongoing professional development


Contribute to the growth of the school


Work alongside the Learning Support team, School Counselor, and leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to student support

General Responsibilities

The Learning Support Teacher is expected to:


Participate in school and community activities


Carry out duties as assigned by the Principal within the scope of the role
