About This Role

Due to the retirement of our long serving and inspirational principal, we are seeking a collaborative, innovative, responsive and experienced inspirational leader to join our successful, inclusive, caring and community-based school.

Tainui School is situated in Dunedin with a projected roll of approximately 277 students for 2026.

We are extremely proud of our school. We are looking for someone with proven leadership skills, strong teaching and learning pedagogy and strengths in curriculum knowledge.

Someone who has strong financial and organisational skills, a passion for holistic and future-focused education, and the ability to build positive relationships with tamariki, whānau, staff and our community.

Tainui School promotes policies and practices that give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, reflecting New Zealand’s bicultural heritage and the unique place of Māori.

We are seeking a leader who has strong personal and interpersonal skills and who will guide our learning community. Someone who brings cultural understanding and experience that enables us to further progress our journey.

We are looking for a leader who possesses high levels of emotional intelligence and resilience and a leader who is energetic and creative in helping us provide an environment where wellbeing is prioritised.

The Role

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Principal
