Position: Primary School Teacher

Job Description - Essential Requirements

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., UK’s PGCE, Bachelor of Education, QTS) valid in Canada, the UK, or the USA
  • A minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Familiarity with Ontario or British Curricula
  • A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and a dedication to the holistic education of students
  • Professional demeanor and courtesy towards students, staff, and parents
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to engaging in school activities
  • Willingness to undergo criminal background checks and child protection screenings
  • Suitable references from current and previous employers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate in alignment with CSM’s objectives, curriculum, policies, and guidelines, ensuring effective delivery
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, management, and the local community
  • Engage in and contribute to assemblies, staff meetings, Parent/Teacher meetings, and planning days as scheduled
  • Perform additional relevant duties that may arise periodically
  • Manage teaching resources and classroom equipment, assisting in their review and allocation within the school
  • Ensure that classroom and corridor displays are organized and visually engaging
  • Maintain accurate records within the school's data management systems
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues and the school community, fostering a shared understanding of the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning quality
  • Establish positive connections with parents, discussing their children's learning and progress, while addressing particular skills, talents, and challenges
  • Prepare and present informative reports to parents in a professional manner, adhering to established monitoring procedures
  • Encourage parental involvement by providing clear guidance on home tasks and ways parents can support their children's education
  • Interact with parents respectfully and professionally at all times, following appropriate school communication protocols and involving line managers when necessary
  • Present to parents at the request of the Principal, such as during Parent Information Meetings or Workshops on Literacy or Math
  • Collaborate with grade-level partners and curriculum leaders to ensure consistency across grades and phases

Compensation
