Key Responsibilities of the Primary Mentor

1. Subject Knowledge

  • Embrace an innovative approach to curriculum and teaching strategies, applying modern best practices in education.
  • Possess a deep understanding of all primary curriculum subjects, tailoring learning experiences to meet each child's needs, skills, and interests.
  • Promote high standards of communication, collaboration, curiosity, and creativity.
  • Support the development of reading, writing, and mathematics through a thematic curriculum within a primary framework.

2. Curriculum Design and Adaptation

  • Create and plan exciting learning experiences across all curriculum areas to enhance knowledge and skill development.
  • Ensure that planning is in line with the National Curriculum while enriching learning through the Citizens Tapestry.
  • Incorporate regional regulatory subjects into the overall educational framework.
  • Modify lessons for students with diverse abilities, effectively leveraging digital technologies and resources.
  • Align learning outcomes with formative assessments and use tracking systems to monitor progress.
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents regarding their child's learning and well-being.

3. Learning and Teaching

  • Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment with high expectations.
  • Build respectful relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Foster a love for learning and intellectual curiosity among students.
  • Design lessons that are engaging and address the varied needs and interests of students.
  • Promote inclusion and innovation in teaching practices.
  • Encourage students to demonstrate integrity, respect, and compassion.
  • Acknowledge the importance of smooth transitions between year groups.

4. Collaboration and Community

  • Engage in self-reflection and critically assess the effectiveness of your teaching.
  • Be open to coaching and evaluation, accepting constructive feedback for professional growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to cultivate best practices and share ideas.
  • Work alongside Teaching Assistants and support staff to meet student needs.
  • Participate in Professional Learning and Development (PLD) and contribute positively to the school's ethos.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and the community to support student learning.

5. Safeguarding, Inclusion, and Wellbeing

  • Citizens School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
