ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
▪ Contributing to the cultivation of international-mindedness and the development of all NAS Jiaxing learner attributes in the curriculum;
▪ Creating an engaging learning atmosphere grounded in understanding and respect;
▪ Practicing open communication that fosters understanding and respect;
▪ Welcoming each student upon arrival every morning or during lessons, ensuring their safety and assessing their wellbeing at the door;
▪ Supervising and assisting with student management during lunch and canteen time, ensuring each child sits and eats appropriately;
▪ Promptly taking students to the school nurse in case of any injury or medical concerns;
▪ Maintaining a healthy and productive working environment between adults and students;
▪ Establishing courteous and respectful relationships with all parents and families dropping off students;
▪ Developing and sustaining clear communication channels with colleagues, parents, and the broader school community;
▪ Sharing curriculum information with parents;
▪ Keeping records updated using the ISAMS electronic system;
▪ Publishing written records and portfolio documents showcasing evidence of student work and their developmental progress;
▪ Utilizing professional email etiquette when corresponding with colleagues, parents, and administrators;
▪ Engaging with parents through face-to-face meetings and during Parent Teacher Meetings.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
▪ Delivering the curriculum in alignment with IMYC and IBDP standards;
▪ Tailoring classroom instruction to accommodate individual student learning needs and styles;
▪ Explicitly teaching ongoing and interdisciplinary skills;
▪ Implementing a constructivist, inquiry-based teaching approach that encourages critical thinking and inquiry;
▪ Providing learning experiences that build on students’ existing knowledge and capabilities;
▪ Integrating technology to enhance learning and incorporate ICT skills where feasible;
▪ Employing a variety of teaching and learning strategies to foster independent thinking, inquiry, and the acquisition of subject-specific knowledge and skills;
▪ Encouraging student reflection on their learning experiences;
▪ Utilizing diverse grouping and regrouping methods for different learning purposes;
▪ Empowering students to take initiative based on what they learn;
▪ Managing classroom resources, including furniture and equipment;
▪ Regularly updating notice boards to display teaching and learning achievements both inside and outside the classroom;
▪ Ensuring compliance with curriculum visualization standards in the classroom;
▪ Creating an inspiring and motivated classroom environment;
▪ Conducting engaging and informative open class lessons for parents and visitors;
▪ Facilitating weekly extracurricular activities (ECA) and boarding lessons where applicable;
▪ Ensuring safe classroom management, particularly regarding the handling of heavy items;
▪ Organizing classroom outings related to instructional content, ensuring safety protocols are followed and all communication with management is in writing before departure;
▪ When suitable, teaching English literacy, including reading, writing, and phonics, according to curriculum standards in all learning areas;
▪ When appropriate, overseeing and guiding the Teaching Assistant;
▪ Teaching assigned subject areas while adhering to curriculum standards and procedures across all learning areas;
▪ Evaluating and documenting student progress using a variety of assessment tools and strategies;
▪ Completing student reports;
▪ Managing and maintaining student portfolios;
▪ Conducting pre-assessments to gauge students’ prior knowledge and understanding before introducing new concepts.
