About This Role
GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to become part of our Middle/High School team. The selected candidate will begin on 01 August 2026.
Key Responsibilities include: Embracing and promoting the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values. Delivering the required curriculum with a thorough understanding of the subject matter. Planning and executing engaging lessons to inspire students. Developing and utilizing appropriate resources and classroom settings to address various learning styles. Providing written documentation of lesson planning and preparation upon request. Maintaining organized records of curriculum, yearly plans, attendance, teaching materials, and assessment strategies. Adhering to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times. Teaching students based on their individual needs through suitable teaching methods that accommodate diverse abilities, such as late-arriving students, ESL learners, those with lower academic performance, and gifted students. Assigning and grading work. Evaluating, documenting, and reporting on students' academic progress and achievements while using assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual student needs. Demonstrating proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom. Supporting the overall progress and well-being of students while providing educational guidance. Engaging with external parties, such as Ministry of Education officials, when necessary. Participating in appraisals, performance management processes, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Collaborating with colleagues in the preparation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral care arrangements. Leading and participating in co-curricular and extra-curricular initiatives within the school as appropriate. Fostering positive working relationships through proactive leadership and sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences. Monitoring and guiding appropriate student behavior while ensuring safety. Developing and implementing strategies to promote self-discipline and manage disruptive behaviors. Encouraging cultural awareness and understanding while nurturing a passion for learning. Assisting in the planning and organization of school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies. Regularly communicating with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values, keeping them informed of their children’s progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information. Demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm beyond regular work hours when necessary. Attending staff meetings and participating in committees as required. Carrying out additional duties as requested by immediate and secondary supervisors.
