The Academy

THE ROLE

Our Design Technology department has significantly improved student outcomes and fostered a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success is attributed to the commitment of our staff, their exceptional subject expertise, and the department's innovative approach to data and curriculum. The DT department is well-respected among students for the care and personalized support provided.

We are currently in search of a creative MYP/DP Design Technology Teacher to join our accomplished team starting in August 2025.

SKILLS

The successful candidate should demonstrate a proven track record in effective teaching and enabling student success. While experience with the IB Middle Years and Diploma programmes is preferred, we welcome outstanding educators from all curriculum backgrounds to apply. Alignment with the IB philosophy and a commitment to the values of the Learner Profile are essential. A genuine enthusiasm for working in a culturally diverse and non-selective community is also a key requirement. Furthermore, candidates should possess:

• A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree supplemented by a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent specialization in Design Technology.
• Advanced qualifications are preferred but not required.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching Design Technology, ideally within an IB DP curriculum school, although this is not mandatory.
• A strong understanding of the IB MYP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred.
• A desire for continuous improvement in their practice and the ability to deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences.
• The experience, personality, and educational philosophy that align with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy.
• Availability to start in August 2025.
