About This Role

Are you a passionate and culturally responsive educator ready to make a real impact?

Te Kamo High School is a well-resourced co-educational school in Whāngarei with approximately 800 students. Our school is committed to supporting our learners to pursue excellence and to develop as positive contributors in our community. Our school values are deeply rooted in Māori principles and guide everything we do: Tū pono (Pride), Aroha Atu (Respect), Tū Tonu (Perseverance), Ōna Tū (self-management), and Urunga (participation). These values inspire our students to be the best versions of themselves, both personally and academically.

As a community-focused school, we encourage all staff to contribute to the wide range of learning opportunities we offer. We are seeking a secondary-trained teacher who embodies manaakitanga (hospitality, kindness, generosity) and whānaungatanga (respectful and meaningful relationships). The successful applicant will hold high expectations for their students and be dedicated to helping Māori to achieve success as Māori.

We are seeking a reflective practitioner who is willing to critically examine their teaching practice, collaboratively work with others to enhance students' learning, and develop strong professional relationships with our learners. All staff are expected to be involved in our Iwi/whānau system.

The successful candidate will be active in continuing our development of a local curriculum while effectively using digital technology to enhance the learning experience of our students.
