GEMS International School, Al Khail is currently inviting applications for the position of Secondary Individuals & Societies Teacher, with roles commencing in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-driven lessons that ignite curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that acknowledges and supports each student's unique strengths and learning styles.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including EAL students, gifted individuals, and those needing extra support.
- Utilize technology and innovative approaches to elevate student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Assess, document, and communicate student progress effectively, using data to inform instructional decisions and personalized support.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine curriculum plans, resources, and assessments in alignment with the IB framework.
- Engage in the wider school community through co-curricular activities, events, and community outreach programs.
- Build strong relationships with parents and the community to support student development and wellbeing.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and self-reflection to enhance teaching practices continually.
- Exemplify the values of GEMS and the IB Learner Profile in all facets of school life.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A recognized teaching qualification at the degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent in I&S/Social Sciences specialization.
- A minimum of 3 years of significant teaching experience in Secondary Individuals & Societies, preferably in an IB Curriculum School, though this is not a strict requirement.
- Familiarity with MYP and DP is beneficial but not essential.
- A genuine enthusiasm for inspiring young learners through innovative and inquiry-based teaching methods.
- The vision, passion, commitment, and educational philosophy necessary to contribute to the continued success of a leading GEMS school with a diverse international student population.
