About This Role

Position Overview: We are looking for an energetic and passionate High School Counselor to become part of our committed team starting in August 2026. This role presents a wonderful opportunity for a counselor dedicated to education and eager to support our students' academic achievements.

Job Purpose: To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling for students.

Job Scope: You will be responsible for creating and executing a counseling program that fulfills the school's requirements and addresses the needs of the student body, enabling students to thrive in all facets of their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and embody the ethos and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Develop procedures and timelines to offer students academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological counseling.
  • Manage the transition process for students.
  • Create protocols for obtaining external support for students facing personal issues and emotional challenges.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to design experiences and activities that foster students' holistic development, while encouraging responsibility, leadership, cooperation, and other personal and social skills.
  • Keep detailed student records on progress, achievements, activities, and interests, utilizing all available data and evidence to monitor student advancement.
  • Establish proactive measures and procedures to address bullying.
  • Implement appropriate testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
  • Set up systems to promptly inform parents regarding any concerns related to classroom performance, schoolwork, or behavioral issues.
  • Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
  • Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond the standard workday when tasks demand extra commitment.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
  • Carry out additional duties as requested by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
