Position Overview: We are looking for a passionate and committed Educator to become part of our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing educational initiatives that promote diversity, foster equity, and honor the vibrant cultural legacy of our community. This position requires a strong commitment to indigenization, a focus on a competency-based curriculum, and an innovative approach to land-based education.

Responsibilities:
Course Development: Collaborate with fellow educators, Elders, and community members to design and execute a curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.
Cultural Inclusion: Foster a learning atmosphere that respects and incorporates diverse Indigenous viewpoints, ensuring the curriculum reflects the local Indigenous culture.
Equity and Inclusion: Create and implement strategies to improve equity and inclusion within the school community, addressing disparities and fostering a sense of belonging for all students.
Community Engagement: Serve as a bridge between the school and the community, actively seeking input, collaboration, and feedback to enhance educational programs.
Land-Based Education: Develop and weave land-based learning opportunities into the curriculum, encouraging a deep connection to the land and traditional practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education
Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate
The following criteria will be essential in the selection process:
A solid understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
Experience with inquiry-based teaching methods.
Experience in implementing curriculum focused on competency-based education.
Experience in competency-based assessment and evaluation.
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Familiarity with Inclusive Schooling practices in the Northwest Territories.
Knowledge of principles and practices related to land-based education.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
