About This Role

We are excited to present an opportunity for a seasoned English teacher with experience in Secondary education to join our growing school community in Singapore. The successful candidate will be tasked with teaching English to students aged 11 to 16, focusing on both IGCSE English Literature and English Language. We are looking for an individual with outstanding subject knowledge who can motivate and engage students, promoting achievement and development at all levels. The ideal applicant will showcase adaptability, resilience, and a supportive attitude towards learners. Additionally, qualified candidates may have the opportunity to take on a leadership position within the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster a vibrant, engaging, and secure learning environment.
  • Deliver the English curriculum to assigned classes in accordance with the School’s schedule.
  • Customize lessons to meet the diverse capabilities and learning requirements of each student.
  • Promote independent learning through teaching strategies that enhance both skills and self-assurance among students.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of subject specifications, teaching plans, assessment policies, and reporting procedures.
  • Assess and improve the English curriculum within the school.
  • Develop and execute schemes of work, selecting appropriate teaching and learning strategies that cater to the subject and the varied needs of students.
  • Remain informed about the latest developments in English education and adjust curriculum content and teaching methods as needed.
  • Identify appropriate resources while adhering to the school’s budget constraints.
  • Create inspiring English classrooms that positively impact students’ perceptions of the subject.
  • Regularly evaluate student work and align homework with school policy.
  • Communicate with parents following the school’s reporting guidelines.
  • Use insights from assessments and reports to drive further enhancements in student performance.
  • Take on the role of form tutor in the Senior School as necessary, fulfilling all related responsibilities.
  • Comply with the School’s policies and procedures concerning discipline, behavior, daily routines, duties, homework, absences, and visits.
  • Engage in co-curricular activities that enrich the student experience and contribute to the overall school environment.
  • Promote the study of English to both students and parents.
  • Experience in supporting EAL/ESL learners and adapting lessons for different language needs is advantageous.
  • Maintain effective communication with teaching colleagues across all school divisions and encourage cross-curricular connections whenever possible.
  • Work collaboratively with the Inclusive Education Team regarding individual student needs, ensuring they are recognized and addressed.
  • Build connections with the broader community to enhance English studies and improve teaching and learning.
