About This Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to create and lead the Drama department at one of the most innovative new schools globally, as the demand for enrollment continues to rise. Charterhouse Almaty is set to open in September 2026, catering to students from Reception to Year 10, featuring a 500-seat auditorium and performing arts centre as part of a campus designed to meet the school's high aspirations.
The ideal candidate will oversee Drama for both the Junior and Senior Schools at Charterhouse Almaty, a prestigious British independent school established in collaboration with Charterhouse, UK – one of Britain’s esteemed institutions founded in 1611. The individual in this role will develop a department that merges intellectual depth with creative energy, and will be accountable for delivering outstanding teaching while fostering a unique performance culture throughout the school.
This role presents a unique chance to build the Drama program from the ground up, including curriculum design, production leadership, performance enrichment, and integrating LAMDA as a key component of the school’s co-curricular and broader speaking culture. We seek a leader with both theatrical and educational credibility – someone who can direct with enthusiasm, teach with rigor, aspire to build a robust program, and establish Drama as a fundamental aspect of a Charterhouse education.
About Charterhouse Almaty
Charterhouse Almaty is the latest addition to the Charterhouse global family, formed through a partnership between Charterhouse, UK, and the International Educational Corporation (IEC), a leading educational organization in Central Asia. The school will be academically selective, delivering a comprehensive British curriculum on a modern campus located in the picturesque Trans-Ili Alatau mountains.
Almaty offers an extraordinary living experience: a cosmopolitan and progressive city set against stunning alpine landscapes. From skiing to concerts, and hiking to contemporary art, the lifestyle here is as enriching outside the classroom as it is within.
