Deputy Head of Primary
About This Role
From August 2026, we are seeking to appoint a highly qualified Deputy Head of Primary to become a part of our team. This role involves supporting the school's Vision and Mission, along with all academic policies and pastoral care within the Primary school. The chosen candidate will stand in for the Head of Primary as necessary and play a crucial part in shaping and executing the school’s educational strategy.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Promoting and ensuring high standards of safeguarding, child protection, student development, and overall well-being.
- Assisting, supporting, representing, and stepping in for the Head of Primary as needed.
- Embracing and fostering the ethos and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Taking a leading role in creating and reviewing the School Improvement Plan, Strategic Direction, and Self Evaluation.
- Upholding and advancing the ethos, values, and overarching mission and vision of the school.
- Promoting a positive image of the institution.
- Leading and developing staff through effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Ensuring the school engages positively with the local community.
- Monitoring and assessing the performance of the school, students, and staff.
- Implementing policies that benefit all stakeholders.
- Leading the effective organization, management, and oversight of school routines.
- Being accountable to the Head of Primary and ultimately the Principal/CEO.
- Fully understanding the requirements and expectations set forth by the National Curriculum for England, the Ministry of Education, and the Dubai Schools Inspection Framework.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A certified teaching qualification at degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of solid and demonstrable teaching experience in a Primary School following the British curriculum.
- Experience in a similar position.
- A commitment to delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences.

- Excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with students and parents.
