About This Role
GEMS FirstPoint School is on the lookout for an outstanding and seasoned leader to fill the position of Deputy Head of Primary (EYFS & KS1). This pivotal senior leadership role is available at our high-achieving, premium British curriculum school, which holds an Outstanding rating from BSO and a Very Good from KHDA.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the strategic advancement of EYFS and Key Stage 1 while playing a crucial role in enhancing school performance throughout the entire Primary phase (EYFS to Year 6). This position merges specialized knowledge in early and lower primary education with broader leadership duties within the primary framework.
Key Responsibilities
Whole-Primary School Improvement
• Spearhead and propel strategic school improvement initiatives across the Primary phase.
• Contribute to the formulation, execution, and assessment of the Primary School Improvement Plan.
• Oversee standards, teaching efficacy, and student outcomes for EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Primary and the broader leadership team to achieve measurable results.
• Lead quality assurance efforts across the primary, including learning walks, book reviews, moderation, and data analysis.
Strategic Leadership (EYFS & KS1 Specialism)
• Direct the strategic enhancement of EYFS and KS1, ensuring it aligns with whole-school objectives.
• Advocate for exemplary early years practices grounded in child development and evidence-based teaching methods.
• Facilitate smooth transitions from EYFS to KS1 and into KS2.
• Promote high standards across all curricular areas, including MOE subjects.
Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum
• Integrate evidence-based teaching practices throughout the Primary phase.
• Lead the refinement of the curriculum to ensure solid foundations and clear progression for all students.
• Assist middle leaders in implementing the curriculum and evaluating its effectiveness.
• Ensure the maintenance of high-quality learning environments in early and lower primary settings.
Assessment and Outcomes
• Oversee assessment, moderation, and tracking systems across the Primary phase.
• Utilize data strategically to inform interventions, accelerate student progress, and address achievement gaps.
• Ensure robust EYFS GLD outcomes, KS1 success, and a smooth transition into KS2.
Staff Development and Leadership Capacity
• Lead professional development initiatives across the Primary phase.
• Mentor and cultivate middle leaders and aspiring leaders.
• Enhance accountability systems while fostering a culture of support, collaboration, and professional growth.
Pastoral and Community Leadership
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and secure environment within the Primary sector.
• Enhance parental involvement, especially in the early years.
• Exemplify visible, values-driven leadership throughout the school community.
